a top choice, a tough choice...

realizing i had yet
to get
information from courtney,
the galt house wedding event planner,
and
present it
(if doable)
to the bride, groom,
and
father of the bride
for their approval,
my inner goddess still
breathed
a great BIG sigh of relief!

i knew...

we.had.options.

which looked a little like this:

~@~

after receiving and presenting
the alternatives
courtney
sent me
to katherine, zack, and
the father of the bride,
we all were in agreement...
we needed to
at least
consider moving the venue
from the yacht.

so, i made an appointment
 to explore
the aforementioned
venue options, and,
last friday,
katherine, zack, and i did
just that.

~@~

although we had
already narrowed down
courtney's list
to either
the rooftop and garden terrace,
a beautiful
covered and open area
atop the suite tower
overlooking the city,
or
the waterford room
a very elegant,
 glassed-in suite
on the top floor
of the rivue tower
overlooking the ohio river,
courtney  graciously took the time
to show us all
the galt house had to offer.

in the end, though,
just as we thought,
it came down to making
a really tough decision
between
an outdoor,
garden wedding
on the roofto
or
an indoor,
much more formal wedding
on the top floor.
it was a conclusion
we didn't need to come to
in haste.
we needed to
sleep on it,
weigh out
and discuss
the pros and cons of each,
and then
and only then
make a decision.

we thanked courtney
and assured her
we would get back with her
soon.

options...

in what felt like
slow-motion,
i felt myself
look around the vessel,
and
(even though he said
it would work)
i began to fear
things might just be
a little
tight.

~@~

in the first installment
of
a lane wedding
katherine's
wedding and reception
was looking a little
like this...

however,
you may recall...

~i was anxious
about the lack of space,
(although
katherine and zack's
wedding is going to be
a relatively intimate one
i feared
she was going to have
very.little.space
for her wedding party
and
no.space
for her musicians.)

but that...

~ultimately,
i decided to let the
cq princess' staff
make it work.
(besides,
i had other things
on our to-do list,
to address
like:
reserving
hotel rooms
and
transportation
for katherine and zack's
guests.)

~@~

given
the galt house
(located
in downtown
louisville, kentucky,
on the ohio river)
is the closest hotel
to the dock area
the cq princess
would be using
for loading/unloading
the wedding party and guests,
it was the most logical
choice for lodging
for
the wedding guests.
when i called the hotel,
i was transferred
(a blessing)
to their wedding event planner,
courtney kiefer.
she was immediately
darling,
very helpful and informative.
she let me know
quickly
she already had a large number
of reserved room-blocks
the first weekend of june 2016,
and,
accordingly,
i would need to host an event
(she suggested a rehearsal dinner)
at the hotel in order for us to even
have the option of room blocking.

after thanking courtney
for her help
and letting her know
i would get back with her,
i called zack
(given, i knew
his parents were looking
for a venue for the rehearsal dinner)
and shared with him what
courtney had told me.

he asked about
other hotels in the area.
i was a step ahead of him.
i told him
i had a list
of all the downtown hotels,
was getting ready
to call around and compare,
and would get back with him
my findings.

hence,
when i ended my call
to him,
i
began calling
the other hotels.
courtney was not
"whistlin', 'dixie',
when she told me her hotel
was filling up quickly...
all the others
were as well!

after calling and getting
numbers from these other hotels,
i decided to google,
"the galt house."
(i was curious about
the types of events
the hotel
hosted.)

when the search results
appeared on my screen,
the first two option tabs
the galt house
gave me were
"accommodations"
followed by
"weddings."

weddings!!?!?

i hadn't thought about
the hotel even being
wedding
venue
option!
however,
this discovery
had my full attention!

~@~

quickly, i clicked on the tab,
read the blurb,
and
proceeded to google,
"galt house wedding,"
articles and images.

oh.my.word.

the intimate wedding spaces
were gorgeous
and
(equally importantly)
spacious...
enough.

realizing i had yet
to get
information from courtney
and
present it
(if doable)
to the bride, groom,
and
father of the bride
for their approval,
my inner goddess still
(yes, i have one of those;)
breathed
a great big sigh of relief!

i knew...

the princess (tongue-in-cheek)...

princess noun prin·cess \ˈprin(t)-səs, ˈprin-ˌses, (usual British) prin-ˈses\

~@~

before i go any farther,
i want to make things
perfectly clear...

katherine elizabeth berrong
is
a princess!

if you don't believe me,
just ask her.

she will tell you
her little father
is
prince john,
the son of
king charles and queen i'ez
of cairo.

she'll share with you
her dad
lived
a rather amazing life...
climbing
(and falling from)
the tallest trees,
swimming
(butt naked)
the most
treacherous
ponds,
and
breaking
the wildest of stallions
(tamest of ponies)
in
henderson county,
a shire
located in the
kingdom
of
kentuckistan.

she will
in fact
confess
she is a
double-princess.
for her princess-mom
(the mother of the bride)
is
the
great-
great-
great-
granddaughter
of an indian princess
on her mom's
father's
mother's
side.

princess.katherine.elizabeth.

grew up
on nightly
stories of
a rich, royal,
heritage...
she claims as
hers.

~@~

yes, she is,
indeed,
a princess.
everyone who knows
or
who has ever met
her
is aware.
even abroad
she is known as

the.princess.

~@~

sometimes it's difficult
to keep her
reigned in...
to keep her
grounded.

perhaps,
this is why
she has ultimately
chosen
rooftop.wedding.

this is the one...

when we walked into ella park
on sunday,
we were greeted
by jackie,
katherine's precious
bridal consultant.

katherine: thank you so much
for coming in on your off day!
jackie: it was not a problem
at all!

me: we really do appreciate
you doing this!
things have changed
a little bit
since her initial styling session.
due to lack of space
on the boat.
she has chosen,
instead,
garden wedding.
katherine: yes,
so, i think i may want
something with a little softer feel,
and also, i will have more room
for perhaps a bit fuller dress.

jackie: i totally understand.
did you bring ideas in with you?
katherine: yes, mom has pictures
and style numbers on her phone.

~@~

as i began to show jackie
the dresses on my phone,
katherine called out to me.

katherine: mom, do you remember
seeing this one?

jackie and i walked over to her.
she was standing
next to a mannequin
donned in the most beautiful dress
we had yet seen.

me: i don't remember it.
katherine: is this new, jackie?
jackie: yes, we just got it in!
katherine: can i try it on?
jackie: yes, of course,
you'll be the first!
katherine: mom, do you really like it?
me: oh, i love it;
it's gorgeous!

jackie marked it
along with the others
in which katherine was interested,
grabbed all the gowns,
and
accompanied katherine
back to her dressing room.

my aunt, mary ann,
 had come with us.
she and i
made our way
back to the viewing room
and anxiously waited
for katherine to come out
of the dressing room.

~@~

when katherine
entered the room,
mary ann and i
were chitchatting.

katherine: this is it...

this.is.the.one.

when i turned around,
i saw her standing there
in the dress she had seen
on the mannequin...
she was beaming,
grinning ear to ear.
she sparkled,
she shined.

it took a second
for me to even look
at the dress...
i could not take my eyes
off her face.

however,
when i did,
i knew
i was seeing

the.dress.

on katherine
for
the
first
time.

she looked
glamorous...
she looked like
a vintage,
australian
starlet.

there were still others
 to try.

but there was no doubt
about it...

this was

the.one.

aunt mary ann...
was in total agreement!

ah, australia...

after dating a little over a year,
katherine and zack
knew they were
forever-twosome...
however,
 they knew
they had degrees to earn
and
jobs to find
before they would be ready
to marry.
all that being said,
once realized,
katherine elizabeth
and
began daydreaming.

~@~

katherine and i
have always had
the same tastes
in...
well,
in almost everything.
however,
it was still
somewhat of a surprise
the first dress
we both
found and pinned
to our respective
 pinterest accounts
was
one-and-the-same...

from australian designer,
gossamer collection!

~@~

do you have any idea
how many bridal gowns
there are out in cyberspace?

i mean like
what are the odds!!?!?

best i can tell,
there are nearly
as many as
the stars in the sky.

and.independently.

we.picked.the.same.one.

~@~

no worries,
i have not divulged
the top-secret design
katherine elizabeth
will don
to say, "i do"
to
zachary dallas...

because
we quickly learned,
in order for her
purchase and wear
that dress,
we would have to travel
9,602 miles
to melbourne, australia
and would have to,
furthermore,
live there
for two months
for fittings
while the dress
was being created.

#happydancecrusher

but.
not.for.long.

because didn't i mention
there are nearly as many
wedding gowns
in cyberspace
as there are stars in the sky?

~@~

katherine and i
didn't let the fact that
that dress
was apparently
not meant to be
the dress
 deter us...

we.never.missed.a.beat.

(not we berrong girls.)

she looked
and pinned,
and
i looked
and pinned...
only to find
we had looked at
and pinned
the same designers,
the same gowns...

which were

australian.inspired.

#ahaustralia

and
one-by-one,
boutique-by-boutique,
dress-by-dress,
she's
coming to a decision
(which she must make
by
june 21, 2015,
in order
for
her dress
to arrive
in time for
her
june 2016
wedding)
which is shaping up
to have
a certain
